Kissan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee to fight on amendment of Land Act in Punjab
Ferozepur, December 5, 2019: The farmers organizations under the banner of Kissan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee Punjab are up in arms to fight on Land Act Amendment in Punjab.
Today, Santnam Singh Pannu, President abd Swarn Singh Pandher, General Secretary, Kissan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee Punjab condemned the policy of the government to hand over the panchayat land to the corporate houses, under the influence of World Bank, by making an amendment in the Common Lands Rules 1964 which will badly affect the employees of Panchayat Department whose survival depend upon the income of this land.
He said, the government is creating a Land Bank under which the Panchayats having 100 acres land willbe handed over to the corporate houses which will directly affect 1.37,000 acre panchayat land having contractual income of Rs.340 crore, being used for the development of the villages including Rs.66 crore wages of Panchayat department employees.
Terming the decision of the government as opening of backdoor corrutpion gate by keeping shares with the corporate houses by the politicials and bureacurats, the Farmers organisations demanded to cancel the proposed amendment in the land act.
Pannu said, the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 is already in existence and Focal Point scheme is already a failure concept. The proposed amendment – a hidden agenda of the government - will cause huge displaement.
Rather, on the panchayat land, the agriculture based industry with the farmer’s share would be more appropriate. The government wants to take lands of the villagers without studying the ipact of the them. It looks to displace the one class and upgrade the already well-off class. The Capt government should reconsider this proposal and think about the farmer-friendly schemes.
He said, the farmers will not tolerate any anti-farmers/labourer decision and we will extensively fight over this issue under the slogan – Jamin Bachao, Jiwan Bachao, Punjab Bachao – Save Land, Save Life, Save Punjab.
